About Joe Russo's Almost Dead

Formed as a one-off tribute project, Joe Russo's Almost Dead has grown into one of the most respected forces on the jam band circuit. The group formed when drummer Joe Russo assembled a line-up of seasoned musicians to perform the music of the Grateful Dead. Rather than simply replicating the original studio recordings or famous live tapes, the quintet interprets the classic songbook with a ferocious, high-energy rock edge, often pushing the tempos and embracing heavy, exploratory improvisation.
