What we collect when you use this site, why, and how to stop it. The short version: no accounts, no payments, and one analytics tool.

Last updated

The short version

  • There are no accounts, so we never ask for your name, email or address.
  • We never see or handle payment details — we do not take payment at all.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get used. That sets cookies.
  • Leaving for a marketplace hands you to that company and to an affiliate network, which set their own cookies under their own policies.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we run no advertising on this site.

What we collect

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records visits to this site: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP (city level, not a street), device and browser type, referring site, and how you move between pages. It is used in aggregate to understand which parts of the catalogue are useful and where pages fail. We do not use it to identify individuals and we do not combine it with anything else.

Anything you send us. If you email us, we hold that message and your address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of the exchange. We do not add you to any list.

Server logs. Our infrastructure keeps standard request logs, including IP address, for security and for diagnosing faults.

What we never collect. Payment or card details, account credentials, date of birth, or any special-category data. There is no mechanism on this site to give us any of it.

Why we process it

  • To run and improve the site — understanding which pages are used, and finding ones that break. Our legitimate interest in a working service, with your consent where the law requires it for the cookies involved.
  • To answer you when you write to us.
  • To keep the site secure and to investigate abuse.
  • To be paid — affiliate networks report referred purchases to us in aggregate so commission can be attributed. We are not told who you are.

Who else is involved

Google (Analytics). Receives the analytics data described above and processes it under its own terms. This may involve transfers outside your country.

CJ Affiliate. When you click through to a marketplace, the affiliate network records the referral so a purchase can be credited to us. This happens on their systems, under their privacy policy, from the moment you leave.

The marketplace itself. Once you are on their site you are their customer, and everything you do there — including anything you buy — is governed by their policies, not ours. We receive no personal detail of your purchase.

Hosting. The site runs on servers we rent; the provider processes data only to host it.

Email. When you use the contact form, a copy of your message is also sent to our own mailbox so we see it promptly. That mail is carried by our email provider, Hostinger, which processes it to deliver it.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.

Cookies

Analytics cookies and the affiliate cookies set when you leave are described in detail, with names and lifetimes, in our cookie policy, along with how to block or delete them.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is retained on Google’s default schedule for the property. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful for support and record-keeping. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then rotated away.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to portability, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you may have rights to know about and delete personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing — we do not sell or share it.

Because we hold no account, the practical route to exercise these is email. Note that we usually cannot connect analytics data to a person, so a deletion request may be impossible to fulfil for that data — the fastest way to remove it is to clear the cookies described in the cookie policy.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across every site using Google’s browser add-on.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top shows when it last did.
