About Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Formed by a group of university friends in Maryland, the psychedelic funk quartet Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has grown from a local college band into a major fixture on the live music circuit. The group is known for its high-energy, danceable grooves and theatrical stage presence. Led by singer and guitarist Greg Ormont, the band blends infectious funk rhythms with expansive, exploratory jam sessions. Audiences can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with synchronized light shows, playful crowd interaction, and seamless transitions between original tracks and unexpected cover medleys.
The band maintains a relentless touring schedule, performing hundreds of shows to a dedicated fanbase known affectionately as the Flock. Concertgoers often seek out pigeons playing ping pong tickets to experience these fluid, improvised performances that differ completely from night to night. The music relies heavily on the tight rhythm section of Ben Carrey on bass and Alex Petropulos on drums, supporting the soaring guitar solos of Jeremy Schon. The resulting live experience is celebratory, communal, and focused on continuous, upbeat movement.
