About The Sleeping Beauty - Ballet
This classic three-act ballet, choreographed originally by Marius Petipa to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, remains a cornerstone of the classical repertoire. Based on the traditional fairy tale by Charles Perrault, the story follows Princess Aurora, who is cursed by the wicked fairy Carabosse to prick her finger and fall into a century-long sleep, only to be awakened by the kiss of Prince Désiré. Audiences comparing the sleeping beauty - ballet tickets can expect to see a production filled with grand classical technique, elaborate period costumes, and intricate scenic designs that bring the enchanted kingdom to life.
The performance features some of the most demanding choreography in ballet, including the famous Rose Adagio in the first act, where the princess must maintain delicate balance while greeted by four suitors. Tchaikovsky’s lush, romantic score guides the narrative through the contrasting realms of the benevolent Lilac Fairy and the dark Carabosse. The final act transforms into a grand celebration, introducing other fairy tale characters like Puss in Boots and Red Riding Hood, culminating in a brilliant wedding celebration that showcases the precision and grace of the entire company.
