About Kodo

This Japanese professional taiko drumming troupe is based on Sado Island, where members undergo a rigorous, isolated training regime. The ensemble grew out of the Ondekoza group, debuting under their current name at a festival in Berlin. On stage, performers play massive drums, some weighing several hundred kilograms, alongside bamboo flutes, koto, and traditional dance.
