About Passing Strange

Created by singer-songwriter Stew and collaborator Heidi Rodewald, Passing Strange is an autobiographical indie rock musical. The story follows a young African-American musician, known simply as Youth, who leaves his middle-class home in search of artistic authenticity. His journey takes him through the bohemian art scenes of Amsterdam and Berlin. The production won the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical, blending concert-style performances with theatrical storytelling. Fans looking to experience this unique coming-of-age journey can find passing strange tickets online.

The staging breaks the traditional musical theatre mould, placing a live rock band directly on stage alongside the actors. Stew acts as the narrator, reflecting on his younger self with a mixture of humour, cynicism, and hindsight. The music spans gospel, punk, blues, and art rock, creating a vibrant concert atmosphere. Theatregoers wanting to compare passing strange tickets can view the available listings from various sellers to find a seat for this energetic, genre-defying performance.
