Star Theater Portland

This historic downtown venue began life as a silent movie house, and that theatrical heritage still shapes the atmosphere today. The interior retains its vintage character, featuring exposed brick walls, ornate plasterwork, and a distinctive skylight over the main room. A balcony level offers elevated views of the stage, while the main floor provides an intimate, close-up experience. The natural acoustics of the former cinema suit live music particularly well, making it a favoured spot in the city for independent bands and diverse performance art.

The venue operates primarily as a standing-room space, though limited seating is sometimes arranged depending on the event. Audiences appreciate the clear sightlines and the proximity to the performers, which creates a shared energy between the stage and the crowd.
